Effective immediately, the electronics ban has been lifted for passengers travelling to the U.S.A through Etihad and Emirates flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Airports respectively.

All passengers can now carry all laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices onto the aircraft, subject to enhanced security measures.

Passengers transiting through the United Kingdom will not be able to carry electronic items in their hand luggage in the event their flight has originated from or has transited through the below countries.

  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Turkey
  • Tunisia

Checked baggage will be through – checked and retrieved upon arrival in the final destination. Collection of bags in UK to retrieve electronic items for the rest of the journey will be prohibited.

Laptop and tablet handling service – Emirates

Further to the announcement on cabin baggage restrictions to the United States, Emirates has announced the introduction of a new service to enable Customers to use their laptops and tablet devices until just before they board their flights to the U.S.

Emirates Customers travelling via Dubai will be able to utilize their laptops and tablet devices on the first sector of their journey as well as during transit in Dubai.

Devices will be carefully packed into boxes, loaded in to the aircraft hold, and returned to the Customer at their U.S destination.

Electronic device ban on flights to USA

Following a directive from U.S. authorities, passengers are advised not to carry electronic devices larger than a mobile phone/smart phone in the aircraft cabin when traveling to the United States via a connecting point in the Middle East. This includes laptops, tablets, cameras and e-readers, but does not affect mobile phones or medical devices. This directive is required to be adhered to from the point of origin.
